History
Egyptian women paved the way for modern waxing. Around 60 B.C., they started removing hair via a process called sugaring. Sugaring, a hair-removal method similar to waxing, uses a homemade sugar solution to entangle and strip away hair. It is still used today as a natural alternative to wax.
Before the advent of razors, hair was sometimes removed using two shells to pull the hair out or using water and a sharp tool. Around 3000 BC when copper tools were developed, copper razors were invented.

Advantages/Benefits
Its advantages are:
Unlike other temporary and permanent hair removal methods, both small and large areas of hair can be removed with hot wax. Simply cover the area with wax and use a bigger piece of cloth to remove larger clumps of hair.
Some hair removal techniques are only effective on certain hair colors, textures and types of skin. Waxing is not so discriminating and will remove any shade and consistency of hair from all types of skin. Waxing works equally on the finer hair typically found on the upper lip, as it does on the coarser hair typically found on the bikini line.
The biggest advantage waxing has over all other types of temporary hair removal is that the hair takes considerably longer to grow back. Although the rate of re-growth can vary between each individual and the efficiency of how the procedure was carried out, typically no hair begins to reappear for over a week – a pleasant relief compared to the unsightly stubble which starts to emerge almost immediately after shaving.
If the hair is waxed often enough it can weaken the follicle and cause permanent loss of hair.
Its advantages are:
One of the pros of shaving body hair is that it is super fast. Shaving is a great time saver, as you can get rid of all the unwanted hair in less than 10 minutes.
It’s also super easy. All you need to have is a new sharp razor, shaving cream or even shower gel and you’re ready to shave.
Painless body hair removal is what most women are looking for. Just run a razor on your legs, armpits or hands and kiss the unwanted hair goodbye.
It’s just perfect if you’re on the go. A pro for every woman about shaving is that it is not chaotic and won’t leave any mess behind.
Cheap, affordable and always available. You can find razors at the drugstore or even at the nearest supermarket to your house.
Disadvantages
Its disadvantages are:
Loss of Skin Suppleness and Elasticity
Wrinkle Formation
Irritation and Redness
Skin Rashes, Reddish Bumps and Slight Subcutaneous Bleeding
Skin Darkening and Burns
Skin Infection
Allergic Reactions
Ingrown Hairs
Its disadvantages are:
The worst con to shaving body hair, is that it leaves ingrown hairs. Razor shaving causes the hair follicle to change its growth direction, leaving it trapped under your skin which leads to the presence of ingrown hairs.
Shaving is not always suitable for all skin types. Extra sensitive skin can get easily irritated right after you shave, since shaving removes a very thin layer of your skin along the process.
Repetitive usage of a razor causes red or dark spots, that is definitely a con to shaving body hair. If you shave regularly, you will end up removing hair on the surface of your skin and not from the roots, which can leave dark spots on your skin. Also red and itchy skin can be a result of shaving and not moisturizing your skin enough.
The effect of body hair removal by shaving can only last for a week, maximum. After shaving, hair tends to appear faster and drier. (P.S. Hair tends to grow faster during and right before your period.)
Shaving might not be very safe. While shaving, you can unintentionally hurt or harm yourself when the blade is too sharp or you’re not completely focused.
