Saturated fats:
Saturated fat is a kind of fat found in butter and lard, pies, cakes and biscuits, fatty cuts of meat, sausages and bacon, cheese and cream. The vegetable products which contain saturated fats are: coconut oil, cottonseed oil, palm kernel oil and chocolate. Many prepared foods are high in saturated fat content such as pizza, dairy desserts, bacon and sausage. It is unhealthy because it raises our cholesterol level.
Unsaturated fats:
Unsaturated fat is a fat or fatty acid in which there is at least one double bond within the fatty acid chain. Unsaturated fats are healthy and reduce heart disease, lower cholesterol level. It is liquid at room temperature. There are two types of unsaturated fats: Monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats. The foods which contain unsaturated foods are: olive oil, salmon, almonds, natural peanut butter and avocados.
