Internet:
An internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet protocol suite to ink several billion devices worldwide. The internet carries an extensive range of information resources and services as the interlinked hypertext documents and applications of the World Wide Web (WWW), the infrastructure to support email, and peer to peer networks for file sharing and telephony.
Intranet:
An intranet is a computer network which uses Internet Protocol technology in order to share information, operational systems or computing services within an organization. Sometimes the term refers only to the organization’s internal website, but may be a more extensive part of the organization’s information technology infrastructure, and may be composed of multiple local area networks.

History	The history of the Internet begins with the development of electronic computers in the 1950s.	Intranet software has come a long way over the last twenty years. Early intranets weren’t quite so well integrated into the businesses that were using them, but their introduction was intended to solve many problems they are used to solve today.
Word origin	It is originated in 1970s (denoting a computer network connecting two or more smaller networks).	The word intranet was originated in between 1995-2000.
