Mono:
Mono has audio in single channel often centered in the sound field. There is only one microphone and one loud speaker or (in case of head phone and multiple speakers) channels are fed from common single path. Monaural sound has been replaced by stereo sound in many applications.
Stereo:
Stereo is the reproduction of sound using two or more independent audio channels in a way that creates the impression of sound heard from various directions as in natural hearing. Stereo sound is now common in entertainment systems such as broadcast radio and TV, recorded music and in the cinema. It requires the technical knowledge and skill to record so the skilled manpower is needed.
