Republic:
Republic is the form of government where there is no king, queen or excludes monarch and the people are sovereign. The government is ruled by the elected leaders according to the law. Here the sovereignty is held by the people or the individuals.
Democracy:
Democracy means rule by the people. Democracy is the form of government where power is either held by an individual in absolute monarchy and where the power is held by a small number of the individuals in an oligarchy. Unlike republic, sovereignty is held by the whole population as a group.
