Sea is the expansion of salt water that covers most of the earth’s surface and surrounds its land masses. It covers 70.8% of the earth’s surface. The sea moderates the earth’s climate and has important roles in the water cycle, carbon cycle and nitrogen cycle. The sea is an essential aspect of human trade, travel, mineral extraction and power generation. Seas are smaller but generally larger than lakes and contain salt water.
Ocean:
Ocean is a very large expanse of the sea, in particular each of the main areas into which the sea is divided geographically. Ocean is a body of saline water that composes much of planet’s hydrosphere. On Earth an ocean is one of the major conventional divisions of the World Ocean which occupies two-third of the planet’s surface. Earth is the only planet to have the ocean. The ocean contains 97% of the earth’s water.
